A Whole New World

The Friends of Hidden Lake is a newly formed 501(c)(7) organization dedicated to preserving and managing our community’s shared natural treasure. Hidden Lake, surrounded by private homes, has been a cherished retreat for the surrounding residents for years. With the recent gift of this beautiful property to the community, this Friends of Hidden Lake organization now plays a key role in maintaining its health, beauty, and accessibility for all homeowners.

As a private, member-driven group, we focus on lake stewardship, environmental care, and responsible recreation. Our efforts include water quality monitoring, shoreline maintenance, and preserving local wildlife habitats. Members also help oversee responsible boating, fishing, and other activities to ensure the lake remains a safe and enjoyable space for all residents.

A Space for Everyone

Personally, I could see the lake property as a place for the community to come together—for enjoyment, for recreation. I pictured kids playing, families having picnics. I’m a visual person, and I could see people putting in sweat equity to make it look good, like a real park in the middle of a neighborhood.

When the lake property owners wanted to gift it to the community, we needed to make a way for that to happen. Friends of Hidden Lake was created as a 501(c)(7) entity that could receive and maintain it. This lake should be a place people feel proud of—a shared space that belongs to everyone—older folks, younger kids, everybody.

When I bought my home, the lake wasn’t even on my radar. The seller mentioned it was part of the property, but no one really took care of it. I thought, "This is ridiculous." That’s when I decided to jump in and help turn it into a true community asset.

Community Involvement

Community involvement is central to our mission. Through volunteer opportunities, educational programs, and social gatherings, Friends of Hidden Lake fosters a sense of shared responsibility and appreciation for this natural space. Whether it’s organizing clean-up days or discussing long-term conservation plans, our members play an active role in shaping the future of Hidden Lake.
